The Airtable extension

If your data lives in Airtable, the RefinePoint extension compares two tables of a base right inside Airtable: which records match, which partly match, and which are on one side only. It is the quickest way to reconcile two tables; for more than that, use the RefinePoint web app.

  1. In your Airtable base, add the RefinePoint extension.
  2. Choose Login and sign in with your RefinePoint account in the window that opens. The extension keeps you signed in while you work.
  1. Choose the tables. Pick the first and second table, and optionally a view of each to compare only some records.
  2. Map the fields. Connect each field of the first table to its counterpart in the second, by dragging. Mark the field (or fields) that identify a record as the key, such as an invoice number. Or ask the AI: it suggests which fields to pair, which to use as the key, and how to compare each, with its reason; nothing changes until you choose Apply.
  3. Choose how each field is compared (below).
  4. Start the reconciliation. Progress shows while it runs: queued, loading, matching, completed.

Every field can be marked Required (must match). Then, depending on the field’s type:

Type Options
Numbers (number, currency, percent, rating) Compare absolute values (ignore the sign); Use numeric tolerance, such as ±5
Text (text, email, URL, phone, selects) Ignore case; Trim leading and trailing spaces; Ignore special characters; Match if starts with; Use Levenshtein distance: treat values within a number of character edits as a match
Dates Ignore time (compare dates only); Use day tolerance, such as ±2 days
Tab Shows
Summary Totals: records, matches, and records on one side only.
Auto Matches Records whose mapped fields all match.
Partial Matches Records found on both sides with some fields different, and which ones.
Left Orphans Records only in the first table.
Right Orphans Records only in the second table.

Select any record to see both sides next to each other with the differences highlighted. Results can be sorted, filtered and exported.

History keeps your past comparisons, with their full results.

Comparisons made with the extension are instant reconciliations. They are listed at the bottom of the Reconciliations page of the workspace they are linked to. How many each person may run in 30 days depends on the plan.
